Description
This workshop will explore trends and challenges facing Massachusetts nonprofit organizations and present a sustainability planning framework to prepare for change, navigate transitions and systematically build capacity to help ensure the mission and the organization survives and thrives.
Purpose/Background
Many nonprofits are facing tough questions and challenges attempting to adapt to changes in funding sources, regulations, rising costs, competitive programs, changing demographics, hiring and retaining staff, and leadership turnover. Executives or senior leadership staff may be planning to retire or transition out of agencies, and organizations are at a great disadvantage if not not prepared for this change. Leadership turnover, particularly the departure of a founder or long-term executive, can create a chasm in an organization's operations, community and funder relationships and, in some cases, affect mission, focus and identity. This workshop will engage participants in how to prepare their organizations for transition in a way that builds sustainability and supports the ability for the agency to thrive in the future.
Intended Audience
CEOs, Executive Directors, Board of Directors, COO, CFO, senior leaders of ADDP member organizations
Learning Outcomes
